Password manager: Dashlane raises $110 million
The Frenchmen who founded the Dashlane password manager have raised $110 million. This fourth round, which is being led by Sequoia Capital, ought to enable the business to add new functionalities to the product.
Password manager maker Dashlane has just completed a $110 million Series D investment round, which was headed by Sequoia Capital. Jim Goetz, one of the venture capital firm’s partners, will also be a member of the board of directors. This fundraising round also included participation from the company’s current investors, Rho Ventures, FirstMark Capital, and Bessemer Venture Partners.
Four former Centrale Supelec employees started the company in 2009: Alexis Fogel, who has since founded another business, Bernard Liautaud, a member of the board of directors, Guillaume Maron, the vice president of engineering, and Jean Guillou (software architect). Emmanuel Schalit is the manager of Dashlane. These funds will be used by the business to enhance its primary offering, a password storage service. In addition to its password generator, document encryption, and secure sharing, the team plans to offer more capabilities.
A former rockstar at the head of marketing
Finally, Dashlane also uses this chance to hire Joy Howard as its new marketing director. The latter will travel from Lyft, where she will continue in her position through next August. She will direct corporate policy initiatives and global marketing efforts at Dashlane. Joy Howard spent six years as a musician and singer in a rock band prior to pursuing an MBA at the University of North Carolina and entering the field of marketing. She started working for Johnson & Johnson in 2003, first as an assistant and then as a product director. She went back to Coca-Cola in 2006, where she eventually rose to the position of general manager of marketing. After that, she worked for Nike, Patagonia, and Sonos before beginning her employment with Lyft in October 2018.
